How many martial artists does it take to change a light bulb? Two. One to change it, and one to say "Hm. My style does it slightly differently..."
"What's the first rule of a gunfight? Bring a gun. What's the first rule of knife fight? Bring a gun." -Dell
No security is absolute. -Batman
The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat. -Star Wars novel
Cultivate the mind, make savage the body. -Former Chairman Mao Tse Tung
"Oh great, another Karate guy..." -Chuck Norris

Until you know, you just don't know. -Me
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I? Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God! Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us! And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
- Nelson Mandela

About Me:
|
I grew up as a martial arts geek. I saw a kung fu movie when I was 8, and that set the course. I refer to a geek as someone who has put all their time and energy into one area of study and can't really relate to anything else.
I recently discovered that I'm also a Star Wars nerd though. Progress?
I was raised Buddhist by my mother who is a monk. I often don't bother expressing my views on a lot of things because my perspective is so different from mainstream Christian society. I have nothing against Christianity, some of my favorite people are quite devout, I just see things differently.
A few years ago I met my Rachel and we just got married on 8/28/08. A most auscpicious date. Oh, wait. That has rhyming traits. Perhaps me and my mate were slated to date, and this marriage is simply fate...
I like to speak in rhyme and pun.
I worked in coffeeshops (Starbucks et al) most of my "adult" life, and in the past years I've moved into a warehouse position and loved it, then transferred into the office. I'm now in a 6x5 gray cube, I stare at this computer screen for 8 hours a day and dream of better things.

MrKnight posted a discussion topic "Pullups! Woot!" in the group Daily Training: This morning I did 5 pullups. When I started (15 years ago) I could do maybe 2, and every morning and night I did a max rep set and within a surprisingly short time I got up to 13 or 14. Then it took years to finally break 15. Recently I st...

MrKnight posted a comment on the group Daily Training: Dood! One-handed pushups. They're not actually as hard as they seem. Arm strength is an issue, but I find it's mostly a matter of ab/obliques lifting the body while keeping the torso straight...
